My last summer vacation

Hi!

My name is Enric and today I am going to tell you a bit about what I did last summer. I am going to talk about what I did in Banyoles and about my trip Turkey and Greece.

Before I went out of Banyoles, I went to a summer camp where I just hanged out with my friends and every week or so I would go to either Girona or Barcelona to see my grandparents or just visit the city.

At the end of July I went to Tessaloniki, Greece and from there I went to Lesbos, then to Bergama in Turkey, then Chios and then to Athens. Last of all I went to Tessaloniki back again. So I did a lot of travelling! (I had to take four different boats) I visited old villages and modern cities, famous beaches and others that were almost unknown. I even went to a Byzantine caldarium!

When I went back to Banyoles I had to do my homework (which was a lot and I had forgotten all about it) I also started handball and also went to my grandparents’ summerhouse. Unfortunately, that means that I didn’t have much time for myself.

Anyway, although it wasn’t the best summer ever, it wasn’t that bad either I got to relax and have fun with my friends.

My best friend

I could choose some people, but I decided that Àdria is my best choice. He used to live next door and that’s how I met him. Last year he and his family moved to Melianta. Logically, that makes it difficult for me to go to his place.  Besides that, we don’t go to the same high school.

Adrià is a tall and strong man and he’s got black fair hair. Àdria is quite smart and gets pretty good marks in all subjects. Some good points about him might be that he’s friendly and very loyal to his friends but he can sometimes be stubborn.

As almost all my acquaintances, Adrià likes to play videogames and he also likes reading. Adrià is also into sports and he’s very talented because he’s quite strong. We both play together in the same handball team.

TV highlights

This week’s TV highlight is the great comedy program APM (which  initials mean “any other question”). In the show, you can see every weird or funny things that appeared in the TV channels that week. Every show is mostly the same but anyway it will always raise a smile.

I also really liked the TV series the big bang theory that is also a humor show. It’s about these very geeky friends who live in the same apartment. In this episode Bernadette and Howard get married, but not everything will go as planned. But don’t worry, at the end they get married anyway.

El intermedio (the intermission) was also worth watching. It’s a humor show with a very famous and funny presenter: “el gran Wyoming”. In this episode they make fun of some mayors who chased a politician in the street and insulted her.

Traffic Jam

A few months ago when I was in the USA I had to go from New Jersey (down south of Manhattan) to Lower Manhattan. The only tunnel to Lower Manhattan is the Holland tunnel. That means that anybody coming from the south that wants to go to Lower Manhattan will have to take the Holland tunnel.

The Holland tunnel is a complete nightmare, anyone who dislikes waiting in a car shouldn’t drive through it. It was built a long time ago so it only has two lanes. It took three hours for my dad to cross it. It’s clearly a big traffic problem.

I think, that people, instead of taking the tunnel, they should leave the car in Staten Island and get a ferry to Manhattan enjoying the spectacular view, or they could take the train from Newark if they come from New Jersey. Also the New York council could build another tunnel from the south to Lower Manhattan.

Is Internet an adiction problem?

I believe that any addiction is a problem, especially the Internet. I think that Marky and Mygril are wrong; that if something is entertaining it doesn’t mean it’s good. If we consider everything that’s entertaining is good, we could then say that stealing and getting drunk are good because they entertain you although it’s something wrong to do. In my opinion, it’s the same with Internet; people can even lose the sense of what’s real and what is not. And I also think that people shouldn’t focus in something that isn’t real, that doesn’t exist. There’s a real world out there. We must also remember that using the Internet can be really dangerous.

Internet is a tool, not just a game to play with. Internet should be used to do some research and work and also to contact people that you can’t meet at the moment. It shouldn’t be used just to chat with anybody who lives in the same town as you for no reason whatsoever. If you want to talk to somebody who lives near you, you should meet him in real life. There’s a whole world out there for you!
