Rosa Parks: The woman who said no

Rosa Parks is a black women who just has a normal life. In the 1st of December of 1955. She's going back home on the bus. A white passenger enters the bus, and because she's black she has to give up her seat but she says "NO"

Immediatley Rosa is arrested and sent to prison. Black citizens were angry so they decided to protest. They wouldn't take the bus. 75% of bus passengers were black so, without them buses would lose money.

Finally, segregation on buses was abolished and for the first time, black and white people could sit together on a bus. This was a small victory but it sparked the civil rights movement that was soon to come with the civil rights legend, Martin Luther King Jr.

Les Misérables

Victor Hugo's Les Misérables is one of the most popular novels of all time. Now you can see the new musical film. An innocent man, Jean Valjean, escapes prison and wants to start a new life. But police inspector Javert is looking for him. Anne Hathaway also stars in the film as Fantime. And the best thing is that she's a fantastic singer!

Peeks of the future: Graphene

Graphene is the best material ever created, it's really bendable, but as hard as a diamond, it's one atom wide and it's transparent, it can change shape  and it's the best procesor ever found. Future phones, ipads and televisions will be made of graphene.

iRock

This rocking chair is called the iRock. The rocking movement generates electricity and it also has a pair of speakers. So now, you can relax and recharge your iPod at the same time.

Snake cake

English woman Francesca Pitcher made this cake for her daughter's birthday. She was inspired by real albino python that she had seen at London Zoo. The problem was that nobody at the birthday party wanted to eat it. It looked too much like a snake, and not enough like a cake!

my summer

Hello my name is Enric and I'm going to talk to you about my Summer holidays.
First I’m going to tHello my name is Enric and I'm going to talk to you about my Summer holidays.

First I’m going to talk about the week that I spent in Paris. Since we are in crisis we went to Paris by car (that's 9 or 10 hours inside a car!). I went to Paris with my family and we rented an apartment.

In Paris we went to a lot of clothing shops and we got really tired for walking a lot but  the food in France is really good . We also went to the Fnac, which is a really big shopping center were they sell books, movies, computers and video games.

We had a great time in Paris and we saw the Mona Lisa visited the Louvre and went to the Sainte Chapelle, etc. And at the end of our trip we went to the Eiffel tower and we saw really impressive sights.

When we went back from Paris we went to our grandfathers' summerhouse in a lonely and calm village called Tortella during a week and it was really hot (but they have a very big town pool).

Some friends from other countries also came to visit us from Israel and Switzerland and stayed a few days. And the days I was in Banyoles I met my friends and went to the pool.

So I had a very good Summer!

My school

I go to a private school called “Escola Casa Nostra”. It’s really big, but just few students go there. There are about a hundred students in the school and 12 or 13 teachers.

There’s a big technology workshop a laboratory, an ITC room, an English room with many computers and a really small gymnasium.

My favorite lessons are PE, English project and technology class. We have gigantic playground, with a three football fields, two basketball fields, a mountain bike circuit and a rugby field. We even have a swimming pool, but we never use it!

We love scones

Tea time! It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon in England, time for scones with jam and cream but scones are not normally this size! This is the world's biggest scone, made by bakery in Devon, England. The scone weighed 45 kg and had 16 kg of cream and 9 kg of jam. Can we try?
