Albert Einstein was born in Ulm,
Germany, in 1879. In 1903, Albert Einstein started working in a patent office
in Zurich. Einstein began publishing papers in academic journals about physics
and science. He discovered that light was a particle and in 1905 after
finishing his thesis he was awarded a PhD.
His big break came later that year,
when he started publishing papers about special relativity, the photoelectric
effect and the equivalence of mass and energy which where to bring him to the
notice of the academic world. He became a physics professor and finally, in
1921, he won the Nobel Prize in physics.
When Hitler came to power in 1933 he
emigrated to the United States of America because he was Jewish and started
working at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Princeton where he lived for
the rest of his life. He died in 1955 at the age of 75.
